Jakarta - Google acknowledged the existence of hackers attempting to break into action Gmailnya service. Suspected perpetrators are from China.
Allegedly, the action is an attempt to get the password from the user hundreds of Google's email service. Including U.S. government officials, activists and journalists from China.
As quoted by Reuters on Thursday (06.02.2011), the perpetrators are thought to originate from Jinan, capital of Shandong Province in eastern China.

As quoted by Reuters on Thursday (06.02.2011), the perpetrators are thought to originate from Jinan, capital of Shandong Province in eastern China.
Jinan is the site of one of six bureaus of technical supervision of the People's Liberation Army aka China's national army. Also in Jinan there is a technically oriented campus that allegedly linked the attacks to Google in 2010.
Google said in its official blog, that this attack one of them using the phishing method. This method is used to deceive users to submit sensitive data like passwords.
Allegedly, an attempt was made to monitor the content of the email the target of the attack. The targets included senior officials at the U.S. government, China's political activists, officials in several countries in Asia (especially South Korea), military members and journalists.
Not yet clear who was behind the attack. Google did not want to speculate about what motivated the attack that their interruption.
